Mesa is the third-largest city in the state and the largest suburb in the country, with a population of over 400,000 people.
Mesa was founded by Mormon pioneers in 1878 and approximately 25% of the population of Mesa is Mormon today.
During World War II, Mesa was a major Air Force training center at Falcon Field Airport and Williams Air Force Base. After the war, many military families decided to settle in Mesa permanently.

Mesa is the spring training home of the Chicago Cubs.
